One thing that I was surprised by after I quit : no one cared 😂. I think there is so much anticipation. Yes they tried to retain me. Yes I was prepared. I did my best until the end and that was it. Of course I wasn’t an executive but other than my peers being jealous I had the time money and circumstances to quit no one cared!
You’re right… it’s surprising how fast people move on. Even for an executive, at least in my experience, people quickly realize you’re not in charge anymore, so they turn for direction (and allegiances) elsewhere.
It does become a refreshing conclusion that: barely anyone cares, so why try to please them?
Wow, I actually found that little profile rather harrowing. Marlo seems to be standing on the edge of a precipice ready to jump … but absolutely unsure what he’s jumping into. My guess, and it’s only a guess, is that it will take much longer to figure out how to live differently than he suspects.
We will see! That's why I liked adding this one to the series, as a complement to the other profiles. Especially because we know getting to the other side of enough isn't as easy as people think.
will be interesting to do a follow-up with this guy a month after he quits, then one year after he quits, and see how it all plays out, and what he’s thinking about at each stage

At least Marlo is aware that it might be a bumpy transition. So many people jump through the door and don’t think about what’s on the other side.
I agree. My first conversation with him, I was amazed at how he was aware that turmoil was coming.
Credit to him to keep going despite knowing. Many people would turn and run!

I've been thinking of doing a 1-year anniversary catch-up with everyone in the series.
