The idea of temporarily adopting a persona, without accepting it as your identity is an important divide to move away from black-and-white thinking (something I catch myself with)
I agree. I think we all have multiple selves in which we go in-and-out of in our lives. The way I show up at work is completely different the way I show up with my kids.
I do think there is a deeper goal of "integration" where our selves converge over time into something coherent. But I think of that as a lifelong project, rather than something one does overnight.
